2 years of Adventures and experiences with Feel Good Fitness Grantham

In this Post i will be Travelling Through all my experiences and Adventures Through The gym, and Exciting Times ahead for myself as well as the Feel Good Fitness Re-branding !!!! In the last couple of months alone have been a Journey let alone the last 2 years, so much has been happening that i have had to not write and instead live the moment. With the gym having changes i thought it would be a great time to Highlight my adventures (:

You can see From my youth days on the left to where i am Today The Transformation of my face, arms legs all because of different changes and stages in my life. Gym Pfff, I said years a go why go I dont need it, how wrong i was not only for my Fitness but how i have an awesome community because of it. My Ultimate Goal when i was at school was to run 1,500 meters for sports day Because when i tried it in year 7 and 8 i had heavy asthma, i was what society called fat, one lap was a nightmare at the time. I never got to see where i would place as in year 10 there was no sports day because of weather and the last year it never went ahead by that point i had lost a lot of weight and wanting to prove to people i could do it. After years of never looking after my fitness, times needed to change so many years later After moving Grantham, I joined Feel Good just over 2 years a go.

For most of my life i have suffered with asthma, and and cant handle pain at all. So to work on that over the last 2 years where i now have a lot better control its my first achievement. With that said I am more then likely the most person in the gym, to moan about i cant lift heavier weights, i cant do this, thats to hard but once surrounded by the most driven and caring staff, with seeing other members do well, a fire is unleashed and i not only show others but myself !!!! what the fire inside can do.

Most members at the gym, and even down at the tennis Club may see me as a positive and confident person, but for those activities its taken time to grow that. I focused for a year on Training with a friend, just trying to get myself to a decent standard with weight and fitness. I refused to do any classes other then the only one i loved which was watt bike, due to my anxiety and my poor fitness levels. Classes that were based around using my brain like Circuits i did not want to be in a place where i focused more on what others thought then working out and its why i trained 4 times a week with only one person.

With new members of staff and new classes it was time to get over my fear, and thanks to them i now have a range of different classes i attend such as FG Burn, Stretch and balance, kettlebell and Bootcamp !!! Billy Burchett has much experience and fitness due to his background in the army. He is a charmer, he knows how to laugh, and put smiles on faces, at the same time he can put you to the test, and really make you feel the burn. his coaching and willing to help members reach new heights is what the gym needed (:

when i first Joined FG Burn it was with my friend Andy and boy did i struggle, doing battle ropes and push ups. The basics of the class was a half a hour class, split into 3 sections. a small warm up, Bikes for 6mins working to myzone Targets, 6mins of anything from bag throws, lunges, kettlebell swings, plank walks pushing the bag through your legs and much more. Then the same again until the end of the class, it may only have been 30mins but if your working out non stop doing heavy workouts it can really tire you out. The bonus to this is you can really see the results, not only on your body but because your working to the myzone system you can see if you need to push yourself less or more (: After a few months of doing this my core strength is much better , better stamina, increased weights and now trying 45 mins of burn classes !!!!

Kelsey Pakes opened my experiences with trying dance, and a class I have improved a lot and really need is Stretch and balance. Its not only part relaxing but works on flexibility and movement as well as balance which i have always had poor balance ever since being a kid so it really does help.

Since Joining she helped Transform the gym, with her shinning personality, knowledge and awesome classes, it a shock to think she has worked at the gym for a year now and how much has changed (:

When shes not helping at the gym, shes learning, and taking part in charity events like tough mudder and connecting communities wherever she goes (: We will dive into more life changing staff later on, now i want to talk about different fitness levels and competitions.

For me i have 2 different types of fitness. Cardio, and core\ Strength, because Watt bikes was the first class i ever took and focused on i think it was only natural that i became good at it which for me was the Cardio fitness. Like with anything and for so long i hated these words '' practice makes perfect. I was so out of breath and hurting when i was learning not only about my fitness but how to get good at speed and Recovery.

I took part in Myzone lead classes, which i got better at over time, to learning when to pedal and when to ease off for the right zones, to entering competitions. Recently i have been doing the Fitness test which you can do by yourself or the gym has started doing a once a month class (:

This works on your recovery heart rate to see how your fitness is going, The higher the test score the better your recovery is, as a added measure of something to aim for the zone match system is still in place and well its starting to get to the point of mastering them on the bikes. The more i did this the longer and faster i could run and play tennis for, as well as being able to control my heart rate into lower zones which meant overall i had more control over breathing and had increased stamina.

My greatest Achievement so far at the gym, has to be The Myzone competitions, not only for the fact of winning Prizes but surpassing what i thought was possible and showcasing Through sweat and pain that if you want something so bad you can do it !!! I had already won one and tied one with prizes from money and wonderful Protein bars !!! It was fate that this Myzone preset came up as while competing a months back on other preset i decided to take the hardest one on, and got 98.4 my best zone match score so far.

On the first day of the competition i matched my best, and only a few weeks later did i surpass what i thought couldnt be possible at getting just over 99 percent !!!! It was hard work, but i said to myself i wanted to break records if i could get over 98 percent when it was just for fun then i can go much further with prizes to be won. The thing with me is the true power within comes out when i have something to aim for. Put upbeat music onto just makes me go into power mode and my own records smash themselves more and more. Again it took practice over a year to go from under achieving to competing at a high level. If my fitness did not match my drive this would not be possible.

I now have a wonderful Myzone watch won from the competition that will now help me judge my effort while running, it will help set a regular stamina run and hopefully improve my 5k Time at Belton Park run that i do most Saturdays (: The work from Cardio alone has exploded my legs, i am much faster then i ever was, any one from the tennis club who faces me in a match can see that as i run to get the most out of reach shots just how quick and easy i can position myself to win the point . In parkrun when i have the will i can fly round corners like the flash haha so to me thats one side of the fitness i am proud i have managed to achieve. The only aspect of parkrun i struggle with is my breathing and my asthma trying to fight back. I also only achieve my best if i have a visual aid to beat like in tennis or gym classes, when im in my own head space i just cant seem to push through the pain, so that is my next target this year to improve on.

The next fitness levels are Built around recovery in high workout classes and being able to push more weight and do cardio for a longer time.

I remember the first times doing FG Burn, and bootcamp classes, where if i did manage to reach a high heart rate, i would struggle breathing, and would not be able to last for a full class, i still have some issues now and then but the harder the classes get the more i am able to stay high up in the high zones for longer. With FG Burn Classes you have very little rest time, if you going from workouts straight to Cardio you already will be in a high blue or more and be able to reach higher zones quicker due to little recovery time. it can be a challenge from pushing hard at cardio, straight to deadly squats and bag throws but heyno pain no game right haha !!! Another wonderful member that pushed my fitness levels and experiences further as well is the driven Joanna Kaminska

Much like Kelsey, JO is also a personal trainer and has classes shes teaches Like Bodyshock, kick fit and is another driven staff whos fun to be around but like Billy works you hard (: Her classes focused on core Building using Body weight workouts Like squat jumps, planks and using all kinds of different body workous inc half the session working with Dumbells. Much like FG burn you have very little rest which is why its a shock to your body and again why i do so many classes as i cover all types of training while having a blast and laugh with staff and members. For me my overall efforts are varied based on my mental health and if i struggle a lot with suffering with dyspraxia, i can often feel Frustrated when i am performing well but my body is not, Hence why surrounding yourself with people can help you and why the classes mean so much for me for lots of different reasons. So where as my cardio might not be so good in the mix with heavy workouts i am learning to sustain a higher level for a longer time rather then (speed is key ) small reference from someone i love watching if anyone knows who it is let me know hehe. When i look how far i come from starting to classes to where i am now my overall fitness has changed, sometimes i think in the session it hasnt but again i can not expect myself to perform the same levels of effort for every class because of how much physical activities i do overall in my life .

We of course cant forget about Kinga who also teaches super classes, Natalia who helps around the gym, and the best gym manager Helen.

So thats about how my fitness has changed and my experiences with the gym, now lets talk about Rebranding and expanding !!!

A few months back the gym starting to expand with new equipment and a new studio and with news of a new unit opposite The Tea spoon company and i was excited to see what the new unit would be like. well a few weeks a go, i was blown away by the size of the unit and how different it was from the small white Building it was. The first class i tried in the new unit was a FG Burn as even with different equipment aced the class. I love the new style treadmill, that moves when you move much more realistic running experience. You have bikes that have big fans on them that are harder to drive your feet through because the faster you pedal the harder weight is added on. So many more wonderful equipment to explore and more and more getting added as time goes by. its like a stand alone gym on its own and i would workout in the new section everytime, bigger space for more people to Join classes, in my opinion better equipment and just overall a better environment

As you can see how many people can enjoy it and how many people the new extension can fit (: I know the gym is having a discounted Limited time Membership as from now so why not get in contact with the team and see for yourself why their is such an awesome community at Feel Good fitness !!!
